Nature Photographer
Maria Beurmann has actively promoted the protection of natural resources, such as the Adirondack Mountain Preserve in New York State. She has served on the board of the Adirondack Mountain Club (Schenectady Chapter) for over 25 years.
Maria has helped to repair trails, to build bridges and lean-tos and to maintain properties owned by the ADK. She has climbed the 46 highest peaks, and has canoed remote ponds, rivers and lakes. Many of her photographs and poems reflect the "visions" found in the Adirondack Mountains.
Maria's experiences as a high school teacher, a poet and photographer, a hiker and a canoeist have helped her conduct seminars and presentations on writing, poetry, nature photography, hiking equipment and wilderness ethics to local colleges, at various literary fairs and outdoor functions, and on educational television.
